Hyper Indulgence

This tondo painting delves deeper into The Land of Indulgence series, exploring our love for commodities.

The American dream revolves around attaining more; the more you have, the more successful you are perceived to be. This exaggerated iteration of an amusement park highlights this rose-colored facade and reveals the true nature of consumer culture. This is evident as people transform into silhouetted versions of themselves, losing their unique qualities and becoming indistinguishable from other silhouettes.

The desire for commodities is embodied in the main figure as he reaches for a popsicle radiating an unnatural hue—a color closely associated with danger in the natural world.
